Installing HeroEngine

Instructions and troubleshooting guide

This is a step by step guide on installing the HeroEngine and a short troubleshooting guide of common problems that can happen.

Common Issues

There are a few common problems or issues that can occur if everything is not set up correctly. Here are some of the most common issues that can occur and their resolutions DirectX 9.0C If HeroEngine fails to open after installation Check your DirectX version first. While you may have DirectX 11 there are some files needed from DirectX 9.0C most software that needs these files will ask to install DirectX 9 regardless of what DirectX you have at the time.

To install DirectX 9.0c files

This will take you to a Mircosoft web page Save the file on the windows pop-up. IMAGE

After the file has been saved run “dxwebsetup.exe” this will load the directX SDK’s that are needed. accept the agreement and click next IMAGE

Uncheck the install Bing Bar and click Next IMAGE

It will install missing components and click finish when done. IMAGE

Click on the HeroBlade Icon on your desktop to see if that has corrected the issue.

User Account Control

Turning off UAC will allow you to load the software without confirming opening executables which is more of an annoyance than actually required.

To turn off UAC:

Open User Account Control Settings by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type uac, and then click Change User Account Control settings. Do one of the following:

  • To turn off UAC, move the slider to the Never notify position, and then click OK.
  • If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  • You will need to restart your computer for UAC to be turned off.

.Net Framework

Turn on.NET Framework 3.5 in Control Panel

  1. Open Control Panel by swiping in from the right edge of the screen, tapping Search (or if you're using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen, moving the mouse pointer down, and then clicking Search), entering Control Panel in the search box, and then tapping or clicking Control Panel.
  2. Under View choose Large icons, and then tap or click Programs and Features.
  3. Tap or click Turn Windows features on or off. You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.
  4. Select .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0), and then tap or click OK.

Turn Windows Firewall Off

  1. Open Windows Firewall by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type firewall, and then click Windows Firewall.
  2. Click Turn Windows Firewall on or off. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  3. Click Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended) under each network location that you want to stop trying to protect, and then click OK.

Logging Into HeroEngine Dashboard

Step 1

Login to the HeroEngine Dashboard

Follow the steps provided by clicking on the “Download HeroEngine Launcher”

Run the launcher “Inchinst.exe” in your download folder selecting the default answers

IMAGE Click finish. This file allows you system to run the HeroBlade.

Step 2

Download the Heroblade for your world.

  • Click on the link provided on the dashboard that Coincides with your world’s name it will download a file named “HerobladeHC0**.heal” allow this file to run and follow the onscreen prompts. (Note: It will run and finish automatically, you will not have any confirmation unless it fails out.)



  • Install all default requests

  • Select place shortcut on desktop and click finish. after a few moments the HeroEngine will open and you can log into your world

Step 3

Log into the heroengine using your email address and password. and click “Log On” IMAGE

Step 4

Select your world. There are 4 reference worlds for you to checkout and see how things are set up.

  • FPS Reference (first person shooter),
  • HJREF (Hero’s Journey MMORPG),
  • Social Reference (Farming and Social Game)
  • Space Reference (piloting a spacecraft).

Highlight your world and click “Awaken World” it will start to spin up your world and load into your new world. Depending on your bandwidth this can take several minutes.
